Joel’s background is in Occupational Therapy, and after graduating with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Ottawa in 2013, he began his career in community rehabilitation.
He worked in the private sector for five years before moving to the public health sector at the Ottawa Hospital, and he had an affinity for working with the acquired and traumatic brain injury populations. Joel returned to the private healthcare setting when he started with Spark in 2021 as the Director of Occupational Therapy. He has since taken on the role of Clinical Director, Chief Operational Officer and, as of September 2023, the title of Chief Executive Officer.
Joel’s goals are to change how community healthcare is done while promoting client-centred, collaborative rehabilitation and support. He prides himself on being a leader and applying his clinical knowledge and decision-making in business and operations.
Joel’s easy-going personality and personal approach make connecting with him easy and asking questions a breeze. Aside from work, Joel loves being a dad to his two daughters, playing hockey 🏒 and golfing ⛳️!
