Tristan is from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and is of the Mohawk Nation. As colonial systems continue to oppress and impact in violent ways, Tristan works to defend and assist Indigenous Peoples in the fight to not just survive but to thrive. Tristan works to address harmful stereotypes Indigenous Peoples face daily. He continues to dedicate his life’s work in the fight for autonomy and self-determination. In 2021, Tristan created Onkwehón:we Consulting which delivers Indigenous awareness and interactive educational training workshops to various organizations and institutions.
Tristan’s educational background is from Trent University where he has a Foundations of Indigenous Learning Diploma and a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in both Indigenous Studies and Political Studies. Tristan currently has a role in Policy Advising and executing Governmental Relations work for Provincial Territorial Organizations within Ontario that has allowed him to assist in bringing change to harmful legislation that negatively impacts Indigenous Peoples nationwide.
Tristan strives for peace 🕊, justice and healing in our world 🌎. Tristan is an advocate for defending homelands and protecting our water health. He spends time with the land, singing traditional songs, playing hockey, running, and practicing yoga.
