This Privacy Policy explains how Spark Lifecare (“Spark,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information through the Spark Lifecare mobile application (the “App”). It supplements our website and client privacy policies.

1. Who We Are

Spark Lifecare provides home and community care coordination. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact us:

2. What the Brand Is and Isn't

The App helps you submit a care referral and be matched with care providers (for example nursing, foot care, personal support, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, dietitian, speech, social work, and related services). The App uses AI only as a decision-support tool to help organize your request. The App does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency services. If you have a medical emergency, call 911.

3. Information We Collect

You can use much of the App without an account — we do not require you to create a username or password. You provide information as you complete a referral:

Information You Provide
  • Identity & contact: full name, email address, and (optionally) phone number and mailing address (street, city, postal code).
  • Your relationship to the care recipient: whether the referral is for yourself or for someone else (e.g. a parent, family member, or other person). Where you submit information about another person, you confirm you are authorized to do so.
  • Care and health-related details: the care services (disciplines) you select; extended health benefit status; care-provider preferences (including gender preference); scheduling preferences; household/environmental factors relevant to a home visit (for example stairs, parking/access, scent sensitivity, pets); and any free-text notes you write, which may include health information.
  • AI chat content: if you use the AI-assisted chat, the messages you send and the resulting transcript.
  • Consent record: the fact and version of the consent you provide, with a timestamp.
Information Collected Automatically
  • Coverage lookup: the postal code you enter is used to determine service availability in your area (and to derive city/province).
  • Usage/analytics: anonymized product-usage events (for example which step of the referral you reached), your platform and app version, and a randomly generated anonymous session identifier. These analytics events are stripped of personal and health details before storage.
  • Technical data at submission: IP address and device/browser user-agent, recorded with your consent record for security and fraud-prevention purposes.

We do not collect precise device location, contacts, camera, microphone, or health-sensor data, and the App requests no such permissions.

4. Sensitive Information

Some of the information above (for example, the care services you request and any health details in your notes or chat) is sensitive. We collect it only to coordinate care for you, and we handle it as described in this policy.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others.

6. How We Use Your Information

  • To process your referral and match you with appropriate care providers.
  • To contact you about your referral and care coordination.
  • To determine service coverage in your area.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the App (including anonymized analytics).
  • To maintain a record of your consent and to comply with legal obligations.

We use your information only for the purposes described here and do not use it for unrelated purposes without your consent.

7. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only as needed to provide the service:

  • Spark Lifecare staff, who review referrals and coordinate care.
  • Salesforce, our customer-relationship/referral management platform, where your referral (including your contact details, care needs, notes, and AI chat transcript) is stored so our team can act on it. Salesforce processes this data on our behalf.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS), our backend infrastructure provider. If you use the AI-assisted chat, your chat messages are processed by an AI model (Claude, by Anthropic) hosted on AWS's Amazon Bedrock service within our own AWS environment, solely to respond to you and suggest relevant care services. Chat content sent to the model is not stored by AWS, is not shared with the model provider (Anthropic), and is not used to train AI models. Model processing is transient and may occur in AWS regions outside Canada; our own storage of your referral remains in AWS's Canadian region.
  • Service-availability lookups to display coverage and maps, the App queries third-party mapping/geographic services (Statistics Canada geographic data and map tile providers) using your postal code / area. These are used to render coverage information and are not used to identify you.
  • Legal and safety, where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, staff, or Spark Lifecare.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers. The App contains no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

8. How We Protect Your Information

  • Data you save on your device is stored using the device’s secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) and encrypted with AES-256-GCM.
  • Information transmitted between the App and our servers is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
  • Referral edits are protected by a per-referral capability token; ownership tokens are stored only as salted hashes on our servers.
  • We limit access to personal information to staff who need it to coordinate your care.

9. Data Retention

We retain referral and consent information for as long as needed to coordinate your care and to meet our legal, regulatory, and record-keeping obligations, after which it is deleted or de-identified.

10. Your Choices and Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you.
  • Withdraw consent to further use of your information (this may affect our ability to coordinate your care).

To make a request, contact hello@sparkcares.ca. We will respond as required by applicable privacy law. You also have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (or your provincial regulator).

11. Children

The App is intended for adults arranging or coordinating care. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Referrals may include information about a care recipient of any age, submitted by an authorized adult.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, communicated in the App.
